Esho Bondhu’, (a musical group formed by the form participants of Saregamapa 2019) released their Pujo album – Bondhu Hote Chai to spread the message of celebrating Durga Puja in the #NewNormal.
The former participants and now popular singing sensations in Bengal and other parts of India - Gourab, Gurujeet, Ananya, Rahul, Lama, Suman, Pritam, Tanmoy, Sneha, Sampa, Abhratanu, Rishita, Prativa Somdatta, Abanti Sithi decided that this Durga Puja instead of going for lavish celebrations and indulgence into incessant shopping, the musicians would use their savings to distribute clothes and essentials among the underprivileged section of the people , who may not be able to enjoy this year’s Pujo due to the effects of Covid-19 pandemic and Amphan.
Keeping this in mind, the musicians collaborated with an NGO called ‘Haat Baralei Bondhu’ and travelled to Bakhali & Mousumi Island right before the Pujas started and distributed meals, brand new clothes, essential items like masks and sanitisers and provided free medical treatment to around 500 people. The young singers while serving food and gifting new clothes to these distressed individuals felt the same as serving food at their local ‘para’ or gifting their family and friends and thus making their Durga Pujo 2020 special.
The new music video of Bondhu Hote Chai also gives the same message to the people of Bengal that in these trying times, we should aim to come forward to help those people who are going through difficulty during the most important Festival of Bengal, Durga Puja.
The video sung by Esho Bondho group has been shot extensively at Bakhali and surrounding areas. Lyrics and melody have been given by Pritam Roy, music rendering and mastering done by Abhratanu Ghose and the breathtaking video has been shot and edited by Prashanta Kumar Sur and his team.
Bondhu Hote Chai released on 20th October 2020 from the YouTube Channel of Esho Bondhu to commemorate the Durga Puja 2020 in the times of new normal.
