Songoti Web Desk : The Indian Dance Experience YouTube Channel created stir in Kolkata with the shoot of the Nataraja Festival. TIDE, now a part of India Book of Records, is part of the digital wing of GIRI Trading Agency Pvt Ltd, dedicated to Indian Culture and Tradition for the past 70 years.
Since its inception in 2019, TIDE has
been supported by senior members of the dance fraternity. It has encouraged and
promoted talents across the globe by publishing their dance videos, conducting
online lecture demonstrations, organising on-ground and online festivals.
The festival was shot in Sujatha Sadan,
Kolkata on March 5 following safety rules due to the pandemic. Among several
artistes, Senior Kathakali artiste, Kalamandalam Venkitt, Somabha Bandopadhay along with members
of Sruti Performing Troupe were also part of the shoot. The videos will
be released in the channel as part of the Nataraja Festival. “What we stress on
is original music and absolutely classical of folk dance, to protect and
promote what’s deeply Indian and traditional,” says Bharatanatyam dancer
Jagyaseni Chatterjee, Manager – TIDE. She adds, “Apart from dance performances,
we are inclined to promote regional culture and this is a completely new
initiative we are beginning with Bengal. So we have Rabindra Nritya as well as
Dhunuchi Nach.”
There are also some interesting learning
modules on its way emphasising on ancient theatre arts like Kathakali and folk
forms like Bihu.
The Nataraja Festival was conducted in
Chennai last year. Due to the pandemic, “We realised that there were many
dancers who couldn’t afford to do a shoot. TIDE stepped up to provide them with
all kinds of shooting infrastructure and a platform in our channel to promote
themselves. Some of our events include, Danceathon, Our Song Your Dance,
Treasure Unlocked, Margazhi Festival,” shares Abhishek Prakash, Digital
Head-GIRI and adds,“There have been dancers from various parts who have used
TIDE link as an authentic platform to apply for their future projects and
sponsors as well.”
