One of the foremost legends of Indian classical music Guru A. Kanan’s 100th anniversary is being observed through various programs, mostly on the virtual platforms and Mrs Chandra Chakraborty, one of Kanan’s foremost disciples has been in the forefront in paying homage to this maestro.
Through her organization, Kalakar, (UK) she has presented over 50 live interactions with some of the legends of Indian musical fraternity carrying forward the legacy of the Guru Rampur- Sahaswan Gharana. The 50th episode also celebrated the 90th birth anniversary of his wife, Vidushi Malabika Kanan. The event portrayed a dance recital in her honour, performed by Vidushi Saswati Sen and her students.
Some of the names featured in the virtual concert series included Maestros Vijay Kichlu, Kumar Bose, Shahid Pervez, Mashkoor Ali Khan, Tanmoy Bose, Shujaat Khan, Subhra Guha and also Ghulam Ali, the Ghazal legend from Pakistan among others.
